"We treat every child as if he or she was our own."

Gail Eaton, R.N.,
Pediatric Cardiac Service Coordinator

"The Children’s Hospital provides quality health care with a midwestern attitude of people caring for people."

Greg Weaver, father of heart surgery patient

"Until you go through it, I don’t think you can understand that the doctors we have here are some of the best.

I didn’t realize all that the Children’s Hospital did and what they took care of until we were there. Having a surgeon and doctors here of the quality we’ve encountered is mind-boggling."

Shelley Weaver, mother of heart surgery patient

In association with the University of Illinois, the Children’s Hospital of Illinois is also a site of pediatric training for medical and nursing students, post-doctoral residents and paramedical professionals.

How many children do we care for each year? Nearly 5000 are admitted to the hospital, over 25,000 receive care on an outpatient basis, and, our maternity unit welcomes over 2000 newborns annually.

Nearly 4000 patients come to us each year for evaluation and treatment of various types of heart problems---some of which are congenital (present at birth) while other defects are acquired (developing over time).

Tours of the Children’s Hospital (with special focus on the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) are offered to all patients and families before admission for surgery.

In the meantime, please explore this website, created by the Children’s Heart Institute of Illinois. Ours is a not-for-profit organization committed to research and education regarding children and heart disease.

You will discover the vast array of treatment options available for your child, and learn more about our patients, their families and their outcomes.
